【摘要】:1.1ThisOutlineofInvestigationcontainsconstructionandtestrequirementsforcoaxialfaultprotectorsthatconnectintotheundergrounddistributionorfeedercabletoaresidentialunitorproperty.Theseproductsareintendedforuseonlywithnetwork-poweredbroadbandcommunicationsystemsemployingundergroundcabletothepremise.ThesesystemspermitIowpoweronthecenterconductorofthecoaxialcable.ThepowerlimitsareinaccordancewithArticle830oftheNationalElectricalCode,NFPA70.1.2Theserequirementsareintendedforbroadbandcommunicationscircuitsemployedintheoutsideplantwhichoperateinasimilarmannertoplainoldtelephone(POTlines)circuitsandwhichencounterthesameenvironmentalproblemsandareinstalledinasimilarmannertotelephonecircuits.1.3Theserequirementsareintendedforproductswhichconnectinserieswiththecoaxiallineandobtainoperatingpowerfromthatcircuit.Thecoaxialfaultprotectormonitorsthecoaxialcircuitforopenconditionsinthecenterconductorandforshortsorleakagecurrenttogroundfromthecenterconductor.Leakagecurrentmayoccurbetweenthecoaxialcablecenterconductoranditsshield.Theshieldshallbebondedtosystemgroundwhichmayalsobeconsideredearthground.Thecableshallbetypicallyburieddirectlyinthesoil(withoutconduit)lessthan18inchesbelowfinishedgrade.Thistypeofinstallationexposesthecabletoenvironmentalproblems,mechanicalabuse,andtampering.Intheeventafaultoccurs,thecoaxialfaultprotectorshalldisconnectthesystem'soperatingpowertothepremises.Normaloperationisthefunctionalprocessoftheproducttodetectafaultanddisconnectpower.
