【摘要】:Thistestmethodcoversthedeterminationoftotalsulfurinpetroleumandpetroleumproductsthataresingle-phaseandeitherliquidatambientconditions,liquefiablewithmoderateheat,orsolubleinhydrocarbonsolvents.Thesematerialscanincludedieselfuel,jetfuel,kerosene,otherdistillateoil,naphtha,residualoil,lubricatingbaseoil,hydraulicoil,crudeoil,unleadedgasoline,gasohol,biodiesel(seeNote2),andsimilarpetroleumproducts.Note1-OxygenatedfuelswithethanolormethanolcontentsexceedingthelimitsgiveninTable1canbedealtwithusingthistestmethod,buttheprecisionandbiasstatementsdonotapply(seeAppendixX2).Note2-Forsampleswithhighoxygencontents(3wt%)sampledilutionasdescribedin1.3ormatrixmatchingmustbeperformedtoassureaccurateresults.Interlaboratorystudiesonprecisionrevealedthescopetobe17mg/kgto4.6mass%.Anestimateofthistestmethod'spooledlimitofquantitation(PLOQ)is17.0mg/kgascalculatedbytheproceduresinPracticeD6259.However,becauseinstrumentationcoveredbythistestmethodcanvaryinsensitivity,theapplicabilityofthetestmethodatsulfurconcentrationsbelowapproximately20mg/kgmustbedeterminedonanindividualbasis.Anestimateofthelimitofdetectionisthreetimesthereproducibilitystandarddeviation,andanestimateofthelimitofquantitationistentimesthereproducibilitystandarddeviation.Samplescontainingmorethan4.6mass%sulfurcanbedilutedtobringthesulfurconcentrationofthedilutedmaterialwithinthescopeofthistestmethod.SamplesthataredilutedcanhavehighererrorsthanindicatedinSection16thannon-dilutedsamples.Volatilesamples(suchashighvaporpressuregasolinesorlighthydrocarbons)maynotmeetthestatedprecisionbecauseofselectivelossoflightmaterialsduringtheanalysis.Afundamentalassumptioninthistestmethodisthatthestandardandsamplematricesarewellmatched,orthatthematrixdifferencesareaccountedfor(see5.2).MatrixmismatchcanbecausedbyC/Hratiodifferencesbetweensamplesandstandards(seeSection5)orbythepresenceofotherheteroatoms.ThevaluesstatedinSIunitsaretoberegardedasstandard.Nootherunitsofmeasurementareincludedinthisstandard.Thisstandarddoesnotpurporttoaddressallofthesafetyconcerns,ifany,associatedwithitsuse.Itistheresponsibilityoftheuserofthisstandardtoestablishappropriatesafetyandhealthpracticesanddeterminetheapplicabilityofregulatorylimitationspriortouse.TABLE1ConcentrationsofInterferingSpeciesTheconcentrationsofsubstancesinthistableweredeterminedbythecalculationofthesumofthemassabsorptioncoefficientstimesmassfractionofeachelementpresent.Thiscalculationwasmadefordilutionsofrepresentativesamplescontainingapproximately3%ofinterferingsubstancesand0.5%sulfur.
